You'll have the opportunity to put your expertise and training to good use in a new and objective way, to ensure that people you meet are treated professionally and with respect, resulting in a fair and accurate assessment. You will also benefit from great training and a better work-life balance. As you progress in your role you'll also be offered the option to develop your management skills.

Working as a disability assessor

Independent Assessment Services needs skilled and experienced health professionals to look at the cases of people applying for Personal Independence Payment and a range of benefits in Northern Ireland

It would be your job, as a disability assessor, to carry out assessments and write up your findings in fair and accurate reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Northern Ireland Department for Communities (NIDfC), who then make the final decision on a person’s claim.

From carrying out telephone, face-to-face and video consultations and interpreting clinical information, to liaising with medical teams involved with a person’s care, working as a disability assessor is both challenging and hugely rewarding.
